From Delhi Center to Holt

John Norris and Fred Luther were the first permanent settlers of Delhi Township in 1837, and by 1857 Delhi Center had a post office, hotel and tavern. The post office was renamed Holt in 1860, after Postmaster General Joseph Holt, to avoid confusion with Delhi Mills near Ann Arbor. The northern part of today's Holt was once a separate area called Five Corners. Older homes from those early neighborhoods may have had several roofs and additions over the years, which means more seams and flashing to watch; see leak repair.
